Jenny Christian

Sept. 24, 1977 – Dec. 1, 2023

From Melissa Hall Hackworth

There is not enough room on a page to share the story of my friendship with Jenny. It started when she was 24 years old and bartending at a restaurant called 431 in Lexington and I had stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar and started chatting with this lovely young woman. We quickly became best friends. Jenny and I shared so many adventures, trips, hangouts ,tears and laughter over the decades. I rarely went a day without talking to her over our 22 year friendship. She was one of the very most important people in my life. I shared everything with her , shared a stream of my consciousness that few others have ever glimpsed in me.
She was extraordinary in her gifts . She was an adventurer. Lover of travel . Lover of learning. She made you feel important , loved, and heard . My life will never be the same without her but I will cherish every single memory forever.

Dear lovely Death

Dear lovely Death
That taketh all things under wing —
Never to kill —
Only to change
Into some other thing
This suffering flesh,
To make it either more or less,
But not again the same —
Dear lovely Death,
Change is thy other name.
— Langston Hughes
